FRESH: New Work – Ryan McGinley, Carlos Motta, Roberto De Luna, & Anthony Fuller, 2002

PETER HAY HALPERT FINE ART is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibition, FRESH: NEW PHOTOGRAPHY. Featuring work by Roberto DeLuna, Anthony Fuller, Ryan McGinley & Carlos Motta, this show presents a look at an array of approaches in photography, from the abstract to a new interpretation of the documentary tradition.

 

All four artists attended college in New York and are based here in the city. DeLuna and McGinley went to Parsons School of Design, while Motta and Fuller were educated at the School of Visual Arts. 

In addition to being a private dealer, PETER HAY HALPERT is a respected and widely-published author, curator, and collector, specializing in contemporary art and photography. He is Contributing Editor of AMERICAN PHOTO and has written for numerous other publications, including THE ART NEWSPAPER, THE ART NEWSLETTER, ARTNEWS, ART & AUCTION, ART & ANTIQUES, ART PRESS INTERNATIONAL, APERTURE, CREATIVE CAMERA, GEO, MIRABELLA, THE PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTOR, PHOTO METRO, THE PHOTO REVIEW, PHOTOGRAPHY IN NEW YORK, COLLECTIONS, and THE INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE. He is the author of Motion Picture, a monograph on the photographs of Hiroshi Sugimoto. He also contributed an essay to the retrospective catalogue of Sugimoto's work, published in 1998, and an essay on Sugimoto for Moving Images: Film and Reflection in the Arts, published in 1999. He is a contributing essayist for Hokianga, the recently published monograph on Ross T. Smith. He is a Professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York, is involved with the photography program at Parsons School of Design/The New School for Social Research in New York, and is a frequent Guest Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. PETER HAY HALPERT sits on the boards of several organizations and institutions, including the Texas Photographic Society and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Photography Committee.
